Just thought would throw out a couple links with 5.8ghz wifi along with bluetooth/BLE modules. Not sure if these are actually AC compliant,I dont think they are but the feasycom module very recently is now able to do repeater mode which could be some benefit, They are reasonably priced as well. there is very little info out about these,although they have been avaliable for about a year now…
The feasycom does have an external antenna uFL connector but worth noting you have to switch the small resistor to make it work.
They are both based on the Realtek RTL8720 chip.
Someone may want to try giving these a go.
