I am looking into running OpenHD on a X86 plattform, with Ubuntu Linux. What would be best, to port the entire OpenHD to ubuntu, or runnig a RPI as virtual machine? Reason is that I would like to use QGroundControl as GCS, and have everything needed in one laptop.
We’re going to release x86 images for 2.1, they’re based on ubuntu. They won’t have a full desktop but you’ll be able to run QGC instead of QOpenHD if you like.
Any updates on this? It gives so much more options to build a complete and powerfull GCS unit.
Also really looking forward to it. I plan to get into this awesome projet, and if I understand how OpenHD works, that would save me one raspberry and give a way more compact Ground station as long as my laptop could do the job with an ALFA dongle and a controller pluged in !
Anyway maybe can we already get that to work by emulating a raspberry: have someone already tried it ?
(thx stephen for that incredible job !)
